The session will propose a convergence of the analysis of Verbal Behavior and of the study of the behavior of neural structures in the brain. A new behavioral strategy will be presented, the “Crossword Effect”, based on the use of other Verbal Operants to modify the performances in the production of Intraverbal behavior.
This strategy is built upon a direct analysis of neural behavior depicting the patterns of neural activity correlated to Verbal Operants and using specific Tact training of crucial nodes of activity common to Tact and Intraverbal responses in order to facilitate the emission of Intraverbals.

As a further proof of the mechanism of neural facilitation underpinning the enhanced performances in the Intraverbal Production obtained through the Crossword Effect, we examined the effects of Neuromodulation techniques in separate experiments.

The effects of the behavioral training and of neuromodulation on the Intraverbal behavior and on the correlated neural activity are examined using behavioral measures and experimental designs commonly used in ABA.
